Dental implants are the latest alternative to traditional dentures. Unlike dentures, which must be constantly removed, cleaned and reinserted, dental implants provide the wearer with a more realistic, permanent solution.
Single tooth replacement can be achieved by using a single prosthesis – an implant topped with a crown. Several teeth in a row can be replaced with a partial prosthesis, which is a fixed bridge attached to two or more dental implants.

If necessary, a complete dental prosthesis can be created to replace all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. The number of dental implants in a complete prosthesis will depend on whether it is a fixed bridge or a removable overdenture; a fixed prosthesis is permanent, and can only be removed by a dentist, while an over denture attaches to a bar or ball in socket attachments and can be removed by the wearer.
While traditional dentures require messy adhesives and cleaning agents, must be kept in special storage containers, and have to be replaced periodically, dental implants can be brushed and flossed just like normal teeth and – if properly cared for – can be expected to last a lifetime.
